When university doesn’t fulfill you, so you turn to trading instead
Having friends is great. But having friends who are also your trading mentors and inspiration? That’s rare. Honza K., one of our new Fintokei Stars, is one of the lucky few – and his story proves how powerful that combo can be.

Honza K. is one of our newest Fintokei Stars – traders who’ve completed at least three payouts and shown that trading isn’t about luck, but about consistency. No Lambos overnight, no roulette-style risks. Just discipline, strategy, and a long-term plan. Honza is living proof. He’s already completed five payouts and continues on his $100,000 ProTrader account. We asked him about his beginnings – and who he credits for his success.
Dissatisfaction as the first spark
Hi Honza, congrats on your fifth payout and your official recognition as one of our elite traders – a Fintokei Star.
Hi, thanks! I really appreciate it.
Every trader gets into trading in their own way. Some see a Reel on Instagram, others get inspired by a movie. How did it start for you?
I was sitting in a university lecture wondering what I was even doing there (laughs). I wasn’t into my field of study, didn’t want to make a living with it, it just didn’t fulfill me in any way.
Luckily, I met a friend who felt the same. Over time, we found out that we were both interested in trading. And that’s how we became classic trading buddies and dove into trading together.
And how did it go for you as a duo?
From the very beginning, we had our eyes on the guys at F.X.C.G. and wanted to start our journey there. I bought their online course, tinkered with it for a while, and eventually attended their in-person course. That’s where I met the team face to face.
I have to say – we clicked right away. I also chose my mentor (Daniel Machovský), and suddenly everything started falling into place. The change was happening on all fronts – personal, trading, and mental. But it took a lot of individual work and learning to love the process while leaning on the support of the community.
So right from the start, you checked off some key boxes traders often hear about – finding a trading buddy and a mentor figure. Did it help with your inspiration?
Exactly. I was really lucky with the people around me. Guys like Radek Babčan, Kuba Kania, and Daniel Machovský – they’re all my role models. Outside of the Czech Republic, Samy Adamas is definitely worth mentioning too. Having constant inspiration – especially from people close to you – that’s something special. 😀
Did that reflect in your trading success too?
Absolutely. I got my first $100,000 ProTrader account from Fintokei six months after completing the mentoring at F.X.C.G.
Show us what you’ve got. Take on a Fintokei trading challenge!
The first major trading slap
Wow, that’s not a bad result at all! Would you say getting that account was one of the key moments in your trading career?
Not exactly. That moment came a bit later – and it was a big slap in the face. I had just gotten the account and started trading. Pretty quickly, by sticking to my plan, I hit a 2.5% profit and could have waited 14 days to request a payout. But of course, I didn’t do that. Emotions got the better of me, and I suddenly went into a heavy losing streak. In the end, just one week after passing the challenge, I was down -8%. That was an insane amount of pressure.
Oof, so you were just 2% away from hitting the max drawdown and breaching the account. How did you handle that?
It was nerve-racking 😀 But I simply took a break, cleared my head, and reset my rules. And then I stuck to them. Gradually, I started to believe in myself again – but only because of that self-reflection and return to discipline. Over time, I pulled the account back up and began collecting consistent payouts. And honestly, I’m so grateful for that experience. It stays with you – like a reminder always in the back of your mind.
So would you say you’ve mastered the psychological side of trading?
“Mastered” is a strong word, but I definitely don’t handle losses like I used to. They hardly trigger any emotion in me now. I just see them as part of the game. I know that if I stick to the plan, profit has to come eventually. Of course, it didn’t happen overnight. It took some time to build that level of confidence. At first, I needed tangible results in the market.
Honza’s approach to trading
So what would you say was your first real “tangible result” with Fintokei?
I remember exactly – it was November 25, 2024. 😀 My favorite instrument is gold, and that day I managed to catch a correction. The trade ran for about three hours, gained 500 pips, and the final RRR was a solid 1:5.
So you’re more of an intraday trader?
Not exactly. I like combining swing trading and intraday to maximize RRR. But overall, I consider myself a conservative trader – I usually risk 1% per trade.
The biggest piece of advice I got was from my mentor Machi, who told me that the most important thing in trading is to keep collecting small profits and accumulate them. No getting rich overnight – just consistent work that earns you money over time.

How did you first hear about Fintokei?
From the guys at F.X.C.G., who recommended it as a trustworthy firm. And that means a lot in the prop industry. A cheap challenge is one thing, but if it’s offered by some no-name company and you’re not sure they’ll actually pay out – it’s worthless.
What I like about Fintokei is that accounts can go up to millions, support is amazing and always helps, everything is transparent – and the payouts hit your account almost immediately. 😀
Honza, thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us. Before we wrap up, could you describe your typical trading day?
Thanks for the opportunity!
My typical day starts with a cold shower. At 8 a.m., I head to the trading floor run by the F.X.C.G. guys. We start with a morning workout, then sit down at the charts and discuss what each of us has planned for the day or week.
My trading style doesn’t require me to sit at the screen all day, so I can work on other activities and projects in between. I usually end the day with a run and a short meditation – perfect for clearing the mind before sleep.
